Next Regulatory Education Symposium features new Registrar, Boundaries, Diversity (Oct. 21, 2023)

Fresh faces join us as the College presents our next no-cost education event for registrants, students, and affiliated health professionals at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, October 21, 2023.

The virtual Regulatory Education Symposium (RES) shares expert knowledge on how regulation-related issues impact health professionals’ practice. The event is hosted by the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (the College).

Presentations

It will be your first opportunity to hear from your new Registrar and CEO, Lyndsay Arndt, on the recent work of the College. Lyndsay joined the College in August after a 6-month executive search.

Lawyer Caitlyn Field will inform you on keeping safe from complaints in a discussion on professional boundaries.

Finally, Diversity Liaison Sylvie Lebihan will take your knowledge about equality, diversity, and inclusion to the next level.

CCP Learning Eligible

College registrants may claim time at attended sessions towards their Continuing Competence Program (CCP) requirements after completing the required reflective practice review (self-assessment, learning plan and reflective learning).

9:00 a.m. Welcome & College Update Lyndsay Arndt, Registrar & CEO, Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists  
  Avoiding Professional Boundary Violations: Tips and Traps Establishing and maintaining professional boundaries is a critical, but often overlooked, part of practice. In this session, Caitlyn Field, a member of Field Law’s Professional Regulatory Group, will give a practice-focused review of tips and traps in professional boundary setting. Topics covered will include:
• Regulatory framework regarding professional boundaries
• Understanding sexual abuse following Bill 21: An Act to Protect Patients
• Scenario review and discussion identifying boundary risks
