Background: Patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience increased anxiety when undergoing medical imaging procedures for a variety of reasons including sensory overload, comprehension difficulty, and meeting unfamiliar people. There are several strategies that medical radiation technologists (MRTs) can apply to improve the imaging process.
