The Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (the College) is a regulatory body established under the Health Professions Act (HPA) whose primary purpose is the protection of the public. The College regulates eight distinct professional groups called specialties, which fall under three umbrella groups: medical radiation technologists (MRTs), electroneurophysiology technologists (ENPs) and diagnostic medical sonographers (DMSs).
To become registered in a secondary or tertiary specialty, you must apply just like you would for your primary specialty. The only difference is the practice hours requirement, which is 160 hours in a five-year window rather than the 800 required for your primary specialty.
