What to do when you are hurt at work?

  1. If you have been injured at work or discover that you are suffering from an occupational disease, you must report it immediately to both:
    • your employer (OH & S Code Part 11 Section 182)
    • WCB-Alberta if the treatment required is anything beyond first aid or if you missed time from work

  1. Tell your health care provider, as your doctor or chiropractor must report workplace injuries and illnesses within 48 hours to WCB Alberta

How do I report a workplace illness or injury to WCB?

  1. You will have to fill out a Workers' Report of Injury available through WCB or your employer and send to WCB Alberta either by:
    • Completing online
    • Fax
    • Mail

    Your employer will also complete and submit an Employer's Report of Injury to WCB Alberta.
