MRT and ENP Practice Permits expire Dec. 31 unless Renewed for 2025
With the year drawing to a close, it’s important for our registrants to complete their practice permit renewal for 2025 and for their managers and employers to know that, unless renewed, their practice permits expire on December 31, 2024.
The vast majority of College registrants renewed by the November 30 deadline.
Submit Renewal before Dec. 15 to avoid delays
To those registrants who haven’t renewed: To avoid delays in receiving your 2025 practice permit, submit your Renewal before December 15, as manual processing may be required.
You cannot work in 2025 until you have your 2025 practice permit.
College Office Closed Dec. 24 – Jan 1
Renewals that require manual processing and are received after December 23 will be processed starting January 2 as the College is closed for the holiday break (December 24 – January 1).
During the holiday break, technical and registration support will be unavailable, and the processing of renewals and applications will be temporarily paused. Thank you for your understanding.
Employers, Confirm Staff on Public Register
To ensure MRT or ENP employees are permitted to practice in 2025, Alberta employers are strongly encouraged to confirm the employee’s current registration status using the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists’ Public Register.
You Can’t Practice Without a Permit
Only registrants with a current, unexpired Practice Permit (Active or Temporary registration) from the College are authorized to practice in Alberta and use the title “MRT” or “ENP” (according to section 43 of the Health Professions Act).
Practicing without a permit is a serious offence and may be referred to the Complaints Director for further action through the Complaints process.
