Bill 46, the Health Statutes Amendment Act, 2020 (No. 2), introduced a suite of amendments to the Health Professions Act (HPA). Among the amendments are provisions affecting how continuing competence programs are established and operated by regulatory colleges moving forward.
The basic framework for the College’s Continuing Competence Program (CCP) is currently set out in the Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists Profession Regulation (the Regulation), and once this amendment of Bill 46 comes into force, that framework will be removed from the Regulation and added to our Standards of Practice. The College has drafted a new standard, Standard Area 6.0 Continuing Competence Program, that will be adopted once the Regulation has been amended. The proposed standard builds on the current regulation and does not include any changes impacting members.
Council has approved the draft standard and the College is now seeking feedback from regulated members. Please review the document below and complete the survey by May 3, 2022. If you have any questions, please feel welcome to contact Linda O’Hara at email@example.com or 780.487.6130.
