The Practice Hours Review asks selected registrants to explain how they calculated their practice hours for their Annual Renewal form and, if inaccurate, correct them.
Every registrant on the general register must report their practice hours on their Annual Renewal form. The College reviewed the practice hours reported for 2024 and found that some registrants reported practicing more hours than what is considered full-time under the Federal Labour Standard. This standard is 48 hours a week for 52 weeks, or 2,496 hours a year.
To ensure accuracy with the practice hours requirement, the Registrar may request for a registrant to double-check the calculations of their practice hours.
This review is a chance for registrants to:
- Make sure their reported practice hours are accurate.
- Fix any mistakes if needed.
- Learn how to calculate practice hours for future renewal applications.
In future, this process may be replaced by a registration audit.
