As per the Health Professions Act (HPA), the College Council approves programs of study for entry-to-practice education for MRTs and ENPs in Alberta.
The College considers all educational programs accredited by Accreditation Canada for magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine technology, radiation therapy technology and radiological technology to be approved programs for MRTs. The British Columbia Institute of Technology Electroneurophysiology Technology Program is the only active approved program for ENPs.
Another requirement for registration is completion of an entry-to-practice examination. The following examinations are approved by the College:
- The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) entry-to-practice examinations for radiological technology, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy and magnetic resonance. Visit the CAMRT website to learn more about the exams and access available resources.
- L’Ordre des technologues en imagerie médicale, en radio-oncologie et en électrophysiologie médicale du Québec (OTIMROEPMQ) for entry-to-practice examinations for radiodiagnostics, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy. Visit the OTIMROEPMQ website to learn more about the exams and access available resources.
- The Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalograph Technologists (CBRET) entry-to-practice examination for electroneurophysiology technologists. Visit the CBRET website to learn more about the exam and access available resources.
If you have completed an educational program or entry-to-practice examination that isn’t listed above, please visit the Applicants page to see if your situation is addressed or contact the College by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 780.487.6130 or 1.800.282.2165 for more information.
