The College’s Jurisprudence Education provides registrants with the information they need to understand practice standards and their responsibilities as regulated health professionals in Alberta.
Topics
There are five modules on the following topics:
- Module 1: Legislation
- The Health Professions Act and other government legislation
- Module 2: Public Accountability
- The complaints process and other ways in which the College is accountable to Albertans
- Module 3: Professional Practice
- The restricted activities that registrants are authorized to perform
- Module 4: Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
- The Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
- Module 5: Continuing Competence Program
- The Continuing Competence Program
Mandatory for Applicants
New applicants to the College must complete the Jurisprudence Education and pass the Jurisprudence exam as part of their registration process.
Active registrants may apply learning completed through the Jurisprudence Education toward their Continuing Competence Program (CCP) requirements. A maximum of one (1) hour per CCP cycle may be claimed for this activity.
Exam
The Jurisprudence exam is available on the College Portal under the “Certification Exams and ACMDTT Professional Development Courses” tab. It consists of 28 multiple‑choice questions.
You must achieve a score of 100% to pass.
You May Not
- Complete the Jurisprudence Education or exam, in whole or in part, on behalf of another person.
- Allow another person to complete, in whole or in part, the Jurisprudence Education or exam on your behalf.
- Distribute any Jurisprudence Education materials, including exam questions or answers, to any person.
