Under the provision of the Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists Profession Regulation (the Regulation) of the Health Professions Act (HPA), MRTs and ENPs have to meet the currency of practice hours requirement to be eligible for registration with the College.

Upgrading

An individual who has not practiced as a technologist for at least 800 hours during the previous five years is not eligible for registration in their primary specialty within the province of Alberta. Upgrading programs are available to prepare applicants to re-establish their eligibility to practice as active, qualified members of the College.

Please contact the College for more information on upgrading for radiological technology or nuclear medicine technology.

Cross Specialty Upgrading

A member who has not practiced in their secondary specialty for at least 160 hours during the previous five years is not eligible for registration in their secondary specialty within the province of Alberta. Cross specialty upgrading programs recognize that there is considerable overlap of competencies between specialties and focus on upgrading only the unique competencies related to the secondary specialty.

Cross specialty upgrading programs are available in the following specialties:

  • Radiological technology
  • Magnetic resonance technology
  • Nuclear medicine technology

For more information on upgrading, please contact the College by email at registration@acmdtt.com or by phone at 780.487.6130 or 1.800.282.2165.
