Practice Permit Renewal for 2025 opened Oct. 1, 2024
Maintaining your College registration is one of the most important legal obligations for all medical radiation and electroneurophysiology technologists practicing in Alberta.
Who can apply for Renewal?
This process applies to you if:
- You have a current practice permit with the College, and you want to continue to practice or resign your registration.
Under the Health Professions Act (HPA) and the Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists Profession Regulation (the Regulation), all College registrants are required to renew their practice permit each year to be legally authorized to practice the profession of medical radiation or electroneurophysiology technology in Alberta.
Maternity or Short-Term Leave
For registrants on or planning maternity or short-term leave, contact the College for advice.
NEW FOR 2025
After receiving feedback on last year’s Renewal process, you can expect notable upgrades this year to elevate your experience, ease frustration, and protect your practice.
The biggest changes include removing supervisor approvals and requiring personal Professional Liability Insurance.
Important Dates
- October 1, 2024: The online Renewal system opens. Log in to My Profile. The Renewal Fee is $450.
- November 30, 2024: RENEW BY THIS DATE. Renewals submitted after this date are subject to an additional $150 administration fee.
- December 15, 2024: To avoid delays in receiving your 2025 practice permit, submit your Renewal before December 15 as manual processing may be required.
- December 24 – January 1, 2025: College office closed. Renewals that require manual processing and are received after December 23 will be processed starting January 2.
- December 31, 2024: The online Renewal system, My Profile, closes.
- January 1, 2025: Registrants who have not submitted their Renewal (have not submitted their application, are in default of payment of the Renewal fee or fail to pay any other fees, costs, levies or assessments) may have their practice permit administratively suspended and must immediately stop working. They must contact the College to complete their Renewal.
- February 12, 2025: Registrants whose practice permits were administratively suspended and have not resolved their status with the College will have their permit and registration administratively cancelled.
In late December, employers will be notified about any registrants we have listed as employees who have not yet completed Renewal so they can plan around potential service disruptions.
