Registration is mandatory. To practice as an Electroneurophysiology Technologist (ENP) in Alberta and use all protected titles, you must be registered with the College and hold an active practice permit.
Who can apply as an Internationally Educated ENP applicant?
This route applies to you if:
- Graduated from an ENP program of study outside of Canada, have been assessed by the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalograph Technologists (CBRET) as being eligible to write the certification exam, or have passed the Canadian certification examination (CBRET), and are practicing outside Alberta.
OR
- You are seeking to practice only intraoperative monitoring under the ENP specialty and have a CNIM credential from ABRET, contact the College.

After You Apply
Within three (3) business days after you apply, the College will email you to confirm your application has been successfully submitted.
- Your application will be processed only after the application fee is paid.
Within fifteen (15) business days after your invoice is paid, the College will review your application
- Once your application is reviewed, the College will notify you if it is incomplete and provide instructions on completing it.
- If your application remains incomplete or inactive for three (3) months, it will be closed, and you will need to reapply.
OR
Within fifteen (15) business days after confirming a complete application, the College will process your application.
- Once complete, the College will assess your application to ensure it meets the stated registration requirements and issue you a decision letter within thirty (30) business days.
The College aims to meet these timelines, however, some applications may be more complex. If the college requires more time to make a decision, you will be notified. According to legislation, the College has up to six (6) months to make a registration decision.
Your decision letter will outline the next steps and provide you with a deadline to fulfil further requirements.
