Registration is mandatory. To practice as a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) in Alberta and use all protected titles, you must be registered with the College and hold an active practice permit.

Who can apply as a Temporary MRT applicant?

This route applies to you if:

  • You have met all the registration requirements, but you still need to pass the approved certification examination, and you have a valid job offer in the province of Alberta.
    OR
  • You are either enrolled in an MRT upgrading program as directed by the Registrar to fulfill specific registration requirements and have a practicum placement.
    OR
  • You are an internationally educated MRT (IEMRT), you have met all the registration requirements, but you still need to pass the approved certification examination, and you have a valid job offer in the province of Alberta. You also must be eligible to practice in Canada.
