Practice Permit Renewal for 2026 begins Oct. 1, 2025

Maintaining your College registration is one of the most important legal obligations for all medical radiation and electroneurophysiology technologists practicing in Alberta.

This process applies to you if:

  • You have a current practice permit with the College and want to continue practicing or resign your registration.

Under the Health Professions Act (HPA) and the Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists Profession Regulation (the Regulation), all College registrants are required to renew their practice permit each year to be legally authorized to practice the profession of medical radiation or electroneurophysiology technology in Alberta.

New for 2026

Based on feedback from last year’s Renewal process, we’ve made significant improvements this year to enhance your experience and safeguard your practice.

Options for Leave, Moving, Retirement, or Resignation

  • Resign – If you are currently on, or plan to take, an extended leave, are relocating outside of Alberta, or are retiring, you may choose to resign your registration and practice permit.
  • Renew – You may choose to renew your registration and practice permit; however, you must complete your CCP and ensure your PLI remains active (not lapsed).
  • Supervisor approval is integrated into your renewal.
  • The CCP declaration should be answered ‘No,’ as CCP is not required for temporary permit holders.
  • Note: The College manually reviews all temporary practice permit renewal applications on submission before approval.
