The Health Professions Restricted Activity Regulation (HPRAR) and the College’s Standards of Practice outline the restricted activities for all of the College’s specialties.

What are advanced and enhanced authorizations?

These authorizations allow registrants to perform certain restricted activities (RAs) that go beyond what they were originally trained to do in their specialty.

Advanced practice authorization allows a registrant to perform advanced RAs that are part of their own specialty.

Enhanced practice authorization allows a registrant to perform RAs from another specialty, as long as it falls within the College’s regulatory framework.

In both cases, registrants must complete approved training and receive formal authorization. Once authorized, the new practice will appear on their practice permit.
